You Don’t Have to Know How You Feel Yet

Decisions about pregnancy and abortion can bring many emotions, sometimes all at once. You may feel certain, uncertain, relieved, sad, overwhelmed, conflicted, or something entirely different.

Therapy offers a private, nonjudgmental space to explore what you’re feeling, make sense of your experience, and feel supported in whatever comes next.

There Is No “Right” Way to Feel

Reproductive decisions can be deeply personal, and there is no single emotional response you are supposed to have.

You may feel relief. You may feel grief. You may feel certain about your decision and still experience sadness. You may feel conflicted, angry, numb, peaceful, or several things at once.

One feeling does not invalidate another.

Therapy is not a space where you will be told what decision to make or how you should feel about one you have already made. It is a space to explore your experience, your values, and what matters to you without judgment or pressure.

Support Wherever You Are in the Decision

You don’t have to be at a particular point in your experience to reach out. Therapy can offer support before, during, or after a reproductive decision.

After an Abortion

Support to process your experience in whatever way feels relevant to you, whether you feel relief, sadness, grief, certainty, anger, or simply want somewhere private to talk about what happened.

Your Decision Doesn’t Exist in a Vacuum

A reproductive decision can intersect with many parts of your life: your relationships, family, culture, beliefs, health, finances, safety, future plans, and the expectations others may have for you.

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t knowing what you want. It’s separating what you want from what everyone else thinks you should want.

Therapy can offer space to explore these influences without judgment, pressure, or an agenda. We can make room for your questions, your circumstances, and your values while keeping your autonomy at the centre of the conversation.

Your experience belongs to you. Your voice matters here.

Therapy Without an Agenda

You deserve a space where your reproductive choices are treated with respect.

My role is not to persuade you toward or away from abortion, parenthood, adoption, or any other reproductive decision. It is to support you in understanding what you want, what matters to you, and what you need as you move forward.

Whether your decision feels clear, complicated, or still unfinished, you can bring all of it here.

Your choices are yours. Therapy is here to support you, not make them for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

For the questions you may be too afraid to ask out loud.

No. Therapy is not a space where I will persuade you toward or away from abortion, continuing a pregnancy, adoption, or another reproductive decision.

My role is to help you explore your thoughts, emotions, values, circumstances, and what matters to you so that your voice remains at the centre of the decision.

Yes. If you are uncertain about what you want to do, therapy can provide a private space to explore your options and the feelings surrounding them.

We can talk about what is influencing your decision, including relationships, family, culture, finances, health, future plans, personal values, and the expectations of others, without pressure to arrive at a particular answer.

Absolutely. You do not need to be uncertain about your decision to benefit from support.

Therapy can offer space to talk about how you are feeling, prepare emotionally, navigate conversations or relationships, consider what support you may need, or simply have somewhere private to talk about the experience.

Yes. You do not have to regret an abortion to want to talk about it.

You may feel relief, sadness, grief, peace, anger, certainty, or a combination of emotions. You may also feel very little about the experience. There is no emotional response you are required to have in order to seek therapy.

Relief is a valid response.

There is no expectation in therapy that abortion must be experienced as traumatic, regrettable, or emotionally difficult. If relief is part of your experience, there is room for that without judgment or assumptions about what you should be feeling.

There is room for grief, too.

Feeling grief or sadness does not necessarily mean that you regret your decision or believe it was the wrong one. More than one truth can exist at the same time. Therapy can give you space to understand what the experience means to you without assigning meaning to your emotions for you.

Reproductive decisions can be affected by relationships, family expectations, cultural values, faith or spiritual beliefs, and concerns about how others may respond.

Therapy can provide a space to explore these pressures, strengthen boundaries, work through difficult emotions, and reconnect with your own values and voice.

No. Pink Light Psychotherapy provides psychotherapy and emotional support, not abortion procedures, medical assessments, or medical advice.

I am informed about abortion-care options and pathways available in Toronto and can help you understand possible next steps for accessing appropriate healthcare support. This may include helping you identify services or resources to explore, while decisions about abortion methods, medications, medical eligibility, physical symptoms, or your individual medical care remain between you and your healthcare or abortion-care provider.

Yes. There is no timeline for when an experience is “too old” to bring to therapy.

An abortion or reproductive decision may become important to you again because of a new relationship, pregnancy, fertility experience, anniversary, family transition, or simply because you now feel ready to talk about it.

No. Therapy isn't only for moments of crisis.

You might want somewhere private to think, process an experience, understand your emotions, prepare for a decision, or talk openly with someone who isn't personally involved in your life.
